I setup a regional office in Cape Town for the business and managed the full customer interface, resulting increased sales by 25% year on year (Sasol).

Designed and implemented sales forecast system in excel, pricing database for ease of use for price changes per customer. 

Built sales strategy that improved balance scorecard and increased turnover by more than 20% year on year (Sasol Polymers – Sales Manager). 

Helped business managers grow their businesses with simple strategies and improved selling skills in their teams.

  • Excellent People Skills: Engaging at any level: Chiefs, Executives, Senior Managers and staff at Telkom on the change management project and at MultiChoice.  Business Owners for growth projects, turnarounds and start-up businesses.  Executives, Directors, Purchasing managers as Sales and Account Manager. Able to turn difficult situation around through good negotiation skills and relational interactions. 

  • People Management: Managed staff for more than 12 years, assisted them grow, develop and be promoted.  Improved business performance by winning with people.  Hire, trained, coach and managed staff.  Designed a full skills matrix in line with HR grading system for business development specialist laying the foundation for promotion.

  • Project, Program and Portfolio Management: Many projects at Sasol, later at EOH and as a management consultant, completing all projects on time. Using project management methodology appropriate for the project, also have been trained on the Sasol BDI model known as the best stage gate business development model used for all Sasol Mega projects. The interaction on change and project management has been implemented on many projects like: Telkom relocation of 6000 people, Customer projects at Sasol Polymers: Product discontinuation, import replacement, Conversion from Butene to Hexene product upgrade, SAP implementation.  As Consultant: Business Turnaround, Growth projects, Start-up implementation and OD project.  Having strong technical and theoretical understanding of both project and change management including Prosci tools and methods.

  • Strategy Consulting: Using a well structured methodology, facilitated many strategic sessions, including a new-to-market product strategy with implementation roll-out plans for a Listed Company. These are simple, implementable strategies resulting in a successful roll-out. Strategic project: Created the idea, wrote the business case and assisted with implementation of a R60m Supplier Development fund with Jobs Fund for Sasol. Designed sales strategies resulting increase growth and profit.

  • Improved Operational Efficiencies: Done at numerous manufacturing companies that includes things like 5s, Kaizen and theory of constraints. Root cause analysis and problems solving were also completed. Technical problem solving was also performed as an account manager.  Business process implementation / improvement for start-ups, growth projects and turnarounds were successfully implemented inline with the business strategy, process and Information System. Also designed business processes for a franchise.

  • Project finance, financial analysis and financial modelling.  Built complex financial models 60 months from scratch in order to raise capital (Debt – Equity), completed financial analysis on businesses in order to improve their health position on business turnarounds and growth projects. Sat on investment committee for a fund, doing full business and financial analysis.  Have sound understanding of project finance, from business case creation to structuring the transaction. Have very good understanding of accounting, tax and finance.

  • Growth Business Consultants: driving business growth through strategy, people, process and technology.  Having success in running account plan workshops that resulted in huge potential growth (white space), driving higher level engagements, improving selling skills and driving moments of truth. Resulting in higher sales and improved profit.

  • Call Centre involvement: worked at Stannic call centre early in my career.  Drove call centre analysis and voice of the customer analysis at MultiChoice Africa as part of CX design through the journey map. Explored effectiveness and efficiency drivers, including first call or no call resolution through CX design.  Creating solution to reduce call centre calls by proactive CX design.  Involved in the Call Centre move at Telkom.

  • Customer Experience Management: understanding the full customer journey with an out-side-in view of the customer, includes process analysis, experience safaris, competitor and industry analysis. Understanding the Africa business landscape for MultiChoice Africa.

  • Strong selling and negotiation skills: increased sales for Sasol by 20%, and the ability to raise capital for many businesses with excellence success rate.  Selling both products and intangibles like insurance products and selling ideas and raising capital. Includes Account and Sales Management.

  • Employee engagement: completed studies on employee effort and the link between CXM and SXM (supplier experience). Process plus people.

  • Forecasting and demand management.  Build full forecasting system by customer by product by month, achieved 93%  forecast accuracy, reducing working capital and less stock outs, also improved customer service.

  • Logistics: warehouse and transport utilisation. Managed 2 regional warehouse with deliveries and factory deliveries. Responsible for the transport companies and warehouses delivery according to SLA.  Know exports and Incoterms.

  • Channel Sales: Designed and implemented a Quarterly Business Review (QBR) framework for a global IT software company to assist in improving performance of its channel partners, resulting in a more focused approach at end clients and better performance.
